Wipe the crusty chunks out of the kids’ eyes first.  Not that there’s anything wrong with that.  And not that I’ve ever completely succeeded.  But sometimes I love the photograph more when it’s flawed.  Life’s not perfect.  Relationships aren’t perfect.  Why shouldn’t our art reflect that?  The self portrait I have added below I took shortly before my life took a 180 and now I am so glad I have it.  I will always remember that day.  Plus, thanks to Erika for affirming that self portraits or portraits of any kind need not be staged or airbrushed to have incredible value.
